AIHL puts Finals series out to tender

The Australian Ice Hockey League has taken a new direction in their season planning for 2010, putting out to tender the hosting rights to the 10th Anniversary AIHL Finals series.

Previously decided by member team input and board of directors vote, the hope is that in 2010 with a growing list of great rink options around Australia, that the facilities and their resident clubs will all be able to bid on hosting the prestige event for ice hockey this year.

It's likely that the AIHL will continue to put out to tender the hosting of the Finals series in seasons to come, giving other venues a chance to impress and providing the opportunity for fans and players to see other venues at their best.

Events Director Sasky Stewart played the major role in getting the new tender process and documents prepared and distributed.

"We sent the tender documents out on the 9th of March and tender applications end on the 10th of April", she said.

Following the closing of applications the AIHL will announce the winning tender and details about the 2010 AIHL Finals series as soon as they are finalised.
