The Melbourne Ice's Lliam Webster has broken the AIHL all-time games played record at the O'Brien Icehouse, in a dominant 10-6 win over the Brisbane Lightning on Sunday.
Webster played in game number 384 against the Lightning, eclipsing the previous record of 383 games held by AIHL legend Greg Oddy.
The Ice veteran was honoured by the club in a pre-game ceremony, accompanied by his wife and children and long-time teammate Tommy Powell.
Webster is one of the only members of the original Ice team remaining that debuted back in 2002. In 21 seasons with the Ice (accounting for the COVID hiatus), Webster has 210 goals, 264 assists and 4 Goodall Cups to his name and was part of the famous Ice 3-peat team in 2010-2012. He currently sits 4th all-time for AIHL points, 3rd all-time for goals and 3rd all-time for penalty minutes.
In addition, he is the all-time Ice franchise leader for games played, goals, assists and penalty minutes.
The league leaders put the visitors to the sword, piling on the offence which saw David Booth not only score 5 goals in one game, but also arguably the goal of the season.
The Ice remain on top of the AIHL standings on 61 points and also captured the H. Newman Reid trophy on the same night, crowned minor premiers for 2025.
They will host the Canberra Brave on August 17th at the Icehouse, before closing out the season at home in a double header against the Adelaide Adrenaline.
