Greg Oddy had his biggest game in three years, tallied his 600th AIHL point, and in the process propelled his team to a commanding 7-3 victory over the Melbourne Mustangs at O'Brien Group Arena on Sunday night.
Oddy became the first player in AIHL history to break the 600-point barrier as he scored two goals and two assists, while Josef Rezek scored a hat trick and Cameron Critchlow four points (1G, 3A) to avenge the 9-5 loss to the Mustangs a week earlier.
Matt Murphy continued his solid start to his AIHL career, recording 32 saves, while the Nicholas Novysedlak couldn't erase the demons from the previous night, giving up five goals on 15 shots before Jack Hayes took the net in relief.
The Adrenaline led 2-1 at the first intermission, after goals from Rezek and Critchlow cancelled out the opening goal of the game from Maxime Langilier-Parent.
Two short-handed goals in the second period opened up a 4-1 lead for the visitors, before Langilier-Parent cut the lead back to 4-2 just before the second intermission.
Oddy then cracked his 600th point in the third period, as the Adrenaline added three more goals, including an empty-netter to complete Rezek's hat trick, to run out convincing 7-3 winners.
After four straight road games, the Adrenaline return home next Saturday for a match-up against the Newcastle Northstars, while the Mustangs will look to bounce back in a home series against the Sydney Bears. |
