Star performers
Newcastle North Stars: Scott Swiston
With Luke Moffatt departing, Scott Swiston should be looking for more responsibility in the remainder of this season. The good thing is, he’s shown enough to prove that he’ll be able to handle the extra work. Having burst onto the scene with nine points in his first two games, he’s been kept a little quieter in more recent games where the North Stars have been coming up against finals contenders hitting strong form. However, with three points in his last start against the Ice saw him score three points, the perfect preparation for the expected step up.
Sydney Ice Dogs: Mario Passarelli
Mario Passarelli has done everything this AIHL season. He started as a goalie for the Bears, then became an import skater, moved to become the Ice Dogs coach and is now back on the ice for the Dogs. Since hitting the ice for the Dogs, Passarellii has scored three points in four games, which is a good achievement with two shutout losses in the last four games. Passarelli will be an important cog for the Ice Dogs as they hope to set a platform for next season.
