History (Note: all stats above are from 2005 to current) Last meeting: 20/06/2015 - Game 53 - Melbourne Ice 4 @ Newcastle North Stars 8, Hunter Ice Skating Stadium - http://aihl.net/1HKTDpG
Season
Star performers Melbourne Ice: Lliam Webster The Ice’s captain Lliam Webster may not be setting scoring records this season but the 254-game AIHL veteran is still the third highest point scoring player in the AIHL’s history, having tallied 368 points. Since he moved into defence, he might not be tallying as many points as he used to, but he is using his big frame to assert himself into games. A guy who isn’t afraid to throw the body around, is a scoring threat and leads his team admirably, Webster is still a huge presence, even now when he’s patrolling the blue line. Newcastle North Stars: Dayne Davis It must help not having the likes of Geordie Wudrick and Luke Moffatt shooting at you but Dayne Davis has shown that he is more than willing to work to keep the North Stars on top. After going through a bit of a funk in the early to mid stages of the season, Davis has got both his GAA down to under three per game and SV% to just under 90%. If the North Stars win the minor premiership, Davis’ contribution may prove to be just as important as Wudrick and Moffatt to that achievement. Cold Hard Stats 1. This is will be the fourth meeting between the Ice and North Stars in 2015. The North Stars currently lead the season series 2-0-0-1. 2. Although the sides each have 20 wins apiece - North Stars (19W-1SOW), Ice (14W-6SOW) - the Ice have a superior record at the Medibank Icehouse. 3. The North Stars have won four of the last six games at the Medibank Icehouse. 4. The Ice's Tommy Powell has scored over 350 points (355 points - 142 goals, 213 assists) in his 274 AIHL matches. 5. North Stars forward Matt Wetini is one point off his 50th AIHL point. Livestream: No Stream as AIHL Game of the Week. |
