Old habits die hard as the away teams stunned home teams, winning six of the seven matches over the latest weekend of the AIHL. The competitiveness of the league has been fantastic in 2014 and this weekend was no exception. Six of the seven matches were decided by two or less goals and seven of the eight teams in the league managed to accrue at least one competition point. ----- Bears 4 def. Thunder 3 (shootout)This was the Bears first win against the Thunder in six matches The Thunder have now been defeated in four of their past six shootouts Dane Ludolph assisted all three of the Bears regular time goals to bring his season tally to 7 This was the first time the Bears had won consecutive away games since July 15th, 2010 Perth Thunder average just 1.5 goals per game this season, the least of any team, while goalkeeper Mathieu Dugas has the second highest save percentage (.938%) in the league ----- North Stars 5 def. Adrenaline 4The 10 goal haul lifts the Ice Dogs to 1144 AIHL goals scored, two more than cross-town rivals Bears The Ice Dogs are the first team to score 10+ goals this season and the first since the Mustangs scored 10 against the Bears on July 28th last year and the first time since August 21, 2010 since the Ice Dogs have scored 10 goals in a match This was the first time the Adelaide Adrenaline had ever conceded 10 goals in a match Simon Barg, Robert Malloy, and David Dunwoodie lead the league with 15 points each with John Clewlow in fourth at 11 with Clewlow claiming four goals, the second time an Ice Dog has scored four goals in a game this season (Barg against the Melbourne Ice) The Adrenaline's David Chubb scored a hat trick on a losing team, the first time this has happened since last season's Grand Final when Dominic Osman scored a hat trick for the Newcastle North Stars ----- Brave 4 def.
