The TTCL pits the best two Australia teams of 2011 against the best two from New Zealand.
For Australia we have grand finalists the Melbourne Ice and the Newcastle North Stars. From New Zealand we have grand finalists the Botany Swarm (Auckland) and the Southern Stampede (Queenstown).
Each day features two games - nation versus nation - with Melbourne first up against Queenstown's Stampede at 4.00pm on Saturday.
Melbourne Ice have been the team to beat for the past two years in Australia, and the Stampede have consistently been the gun team on New Zealand's south island.
The 7.00pm game has NSW team the Newcastle North Stars playing last years NZIHL Champions, Botany Swarm.
On Sunday the North Stars have the early game versus the Stampede, and the Ice the late game versus Botany Swarm.
The tournament is a new concept that will run annually, alternating between the two countries with Australia hosting on even years and New Zealand on odd.
The inaugural TTCL will be played at Australia's biggest facility, the Medibank Icehouse in Melbourne's Docklands district.
The winning team will receive the Trans Tasman Champions League Cup, newly designed and developed for the event.
