Bears to enter the Lizard Pit.
Thursday, June 28, 2012 - Submitted by Gold Coast Blue Tongues
The Blue Tongues will clash with the Sydney Bears this weekend in a hockey version of State of Origin. Both teams have struggled recently, but the Tongues took the first match up this year.

The Blue Tongues were treated rudely last weekend when the Thunder made the long trip from Perth. In the first series of games that Gold Coast hosted in Brisbane the Thunder walked away with a pair of wins. The first trip to Queensland for the Thunder proved to be a successful one.

These games really hurt the Blue Tongues in the standings sticking them in fourth place behind the Thunder. The Bears have not fared much better and have struggled throughout the month.

Saturday, the Bears will be in search of their very first win of the month. Currently stuck at the bottom of the AIHL the season has been a struggle for Sydney. This weekend will prove to be a test with the large amount of traveling the Bears are facing. After taking on the Tongues they will have to fly back home to play again at home on Sunday.

Tomas Landa and Michael Schlamp lead the way for the Bears leading the team in goals and assists. They will lean on those to players to help them to get over the hump this month. Similarly the Tongues will be leaning on Mike McRae who has been a standout for the Blue Tongues all year long.

Once again the Tongues will be offering a bus to shuttle fans to and from Brisbane for the game. For just $15 fans will get a ticket to the game, and transport to and from the game. The bus leaves at 7:45 p.m. on Friday from the RSL in Surfers, but feel free to head down early to grab a bite and mingle with the players and coaches. The game is at 10:30 p.m. and the bus will return back after and the fun will continue at Melbas for those who are keen!
