CBR Brave take the 3-1 win against the Newcastle Northstars after an intense game of hockey.
On Saturday night the Newcastle Northstars travelled to the nation’s capital for a top of the table clash against CBR Brave,
Before the weekend the CBR Brave were sitting first on the league leaderboard with 39 points and the Northstars sitting second on 30 points.
Charlie Smart was in between the pipes on Saturday night and stood tall throughout the game. Facing 24 shots in total with 13 being in the first 15 minutes.
The CBR Brave were first on the scoreboard after Joey Hughes capitalised on a power play. Jordie Gavin followed suite 5 minutes later taking the lead to 2-0.
However, Northstars captain Bert Malloy didn’t leave it unanswered, scoring just 50 seconds later. Both Nick Rivait and Joe Harcharik helped with the assist on the Northstars only goal for the night.

The second period saw some serious end to end hockey but each team seemed to be able to answer any play or move thrown at them.
As the third period began, with the score still locked at 2-1, both teams came out firing.
Joey Hughes bagged another goal halfway through the third and the CBR Brave managed to hold the Northstars out to prevent any further goals.
In the last 30 seconds, the Northstars pulled Smart, to add another player to the ice to try to boost the scoreline. However, the CBR Brave locked down their defence and continually played the puck out of their zone.
The Northstars return to HISS next Sunday 22nd July for a 4:00pm puck drop against the Sydney Bears. More ticket info here: http://aihl.net/2pEQozY
